2023 makes it 35 years for me in the Used Machinery Business. Over those many years I have been fortunate to work with and learn from many great industry professionals. I started working as a Salesman for Hoff Machinery in the late 1980's and was immediately drawn to the business. I still enjoy finding machines that were unneeded or surplus to one company, and finding a home for them with a company who can benefit from using them. 35 years seems like so long ago....
In January, the 17th of January to be more specific, we will be holding an Online Auction for Twin City Gear. After 75 Years in the Gear Manufacturing business, the owner has decided to close Twin City Gear. I looked it up to make sure, the MN Secretary of State records indicate Twin City Gear first chartered in 1947! There are many customers I am sure that will be sad to see the shop close, but the sale of the building to another business swayed the owner to shut things down and retire. After all of his years there, he has certainly earned that. I am certain that this void in the gear making industry will provide opportunity for others to enter or expand in the gear making business. Hopefully the equipment in our Online Auction can help people to do that.
We spent many hours going through all of the cabinets, shelving and workbenches at Twin City Gear over the last few weeks. It is amazing the amount of "stuff" a company accumulates in 75 years of doing business. We have lotted the auction so far into around 700 lots! Sure the place is loaded with Gear Hobbing Machines, Gear Shapers, Gear Grinders, Hob Sharpeners and Gear Hobs, Cutters and all the stuff that Gear Makers need. But I was astounded at the amount of Hand Tools, Inspection Devices, Carts and every kind of shop suport equipment you could imagine.

I hope to see you at the preview live an on-site on Friday, January 13th at Twin City Gear for the Online Auction.
Happy New Year!
